Frequently asked questions
How do I know if counseling is right for me?
The best way to decide is to set up a free 15 minute consult and we can discuss what is happening and whether I may be able to help.
How long would we work together?
We will figure this out together. We can decide on a certain number of sessions to meet your goals or we can work on an ongoing or as needed basis.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, for individual and couples therapy:
I’m licensed in the states of Idaho and Wyoming and I am an in-network provider with Medicare, Idaho Medicaid, Blue Cross and Regence of Idaho, Mountain Health and United Healthcare at this time. These are all subject to change, so feel free to inquire with me or your insurance company.
No, for group coaching. Payment is entirely out-of-pocket for coaching.
What are your specialities?
I’m a generalist, but have specialized training and certification in the following areas:
Trauma - I’m certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a very effective and frequently swift treatment for trauma.
Skills building - I’m intensively trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) which teaches mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation skills.
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy.
Emotional Intelligence coaching.
What’s the difference between coaching and counseling?
There are certainly overlaps between the two, but in general, coaching is about moving forward through a problem with a specific gaol in mind. Whereas counseling may often delve deeply into the past and healing is frequently the goal.
